Description:
This self-adjusting wrench operates by gear-teeth on the inner end of the swinging handle engaging rack teeth on the back side of the movable jaw.

The U.S. patent was preceded by Canadian patent CA-10,613 issued Nov. 5, 1879.

This patent along with Calef's March 6, 1883 patent (no. 273,461) was used in P. Lowentraut's SAMSON self-adjusting wrench.
