Description:
The jaws of the tongs / pliers are thickest at the center of the curved gripping surface in order to allow them to grasp the edges of carriage bolt heads and similar round surfaces. Screwdriver & nail puller handle ends and wire cutting surfaces at the inner edge of the jaws are optional.

This patent was produced as at least three sizes of pliers - based on a description on pg. 32 of the February 19, 1914 MOTOR WORLD. A 14 inch tongs has also been observed.
