The patent is a retaining pin in the face of the main shank of a Coes wrench, and a corresponding clearance notch in the base of the adjustable jaw. The retaining pin would do away with the need for the "rosette retaining notch." A parallel patent (no. 705874) uses a spherical or cylindrical element for the same purpose. |
