Description: |
| The curved shank and thin head allow the head to be slipped between the bars to reach the nuts inside the cylinder. The gripper for the ratchet action is a small toothed roller which can be shifted to either side of the center line for reversible ratchet action. The shifting mechanism is a rod running through the center of the shank, with a leaf spring at the end. The handle end of the rod has a knurled nut.
Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" identifies this as the first cylinder tooth wrench supplied by the Maytag Co.
Corresponding Canadian patent no. CA-91872 issued Febr. 28, 1905 was assigned to the Parsons Band Cutter and Self Feeder Company. |
