Description: |
A gear-drive transmits power from a bit brace to the spring-tensioned socket. An extension to the frame with a cam lever helps hold the tool in place and grips the face of the tire bolt to keep it from turning.
The basic form is similar to the March 2, 1869 Darius Wilcox tire bolt patent (no. 87,531), with the added grip for the head of the tire bolt.
Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" lists Wiley as a manufacturer based on announcement of the patent in SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN. |
