This patent specification spells the prolific inventor's name "Bariah", but "Beriah" is the usual spelling. He had numerous patents for cloth-shearing machines, dye-wood cutters, and a coffee grinder that was commercially successful. According to the 1873 "Subject-matter index of patents for inventions issued by the United States Patent Office", this patent was granted an extension.
