Description:
This machine was intended for making bedstead-rails, but it was also used for making garden implements such as hoes and rakes. An 1855 ad from Spalding's Machine Shop lists this machine: "Baily's Bed Rail Machine, for turning and tenoning square timber—eight hundred pieces in ten hours turned ready for the screw." An 1874 ad from T. R. Bailey & Vail shows a lathe with this patented feature.
