Vintage Machinery entry for Tannewitz Works
Description:
This lathe belt system has been seen on a Tannewitz lathe—a quite uncommon machine. This variable-speed belt system uses a separate belt for each speed. Each belt is loose so that it normally hangs without contacting the drive pulley at the bottom. The idler pulley is moved in front of one of the belts and levered forward, which forces that belt into contact with the drive pulley.
