Description:
The upper jaw has lateral arms to position the tool, and the holder for the "nose-ring" plate. The lower jaw is bifurcated to clear the "barb" of the nose ring plate. The "nose-ring" is shown in the drawings and described in detail in the specifications.

Burger's patent 156,054, which was termed an improvement on this patent, used a "staple" shaped "snout-jewel" and correspondingly different forms for the upper and lower jaws.
