Description:
Sarven seems to have been a carriage maker; he received two patents, including this one that was intended for making carriage bows, wheel rims, etc. His other patent, 17,520, was a very important patent for a new design of carriage-wheel hub.

On 1889-06-12, a James D. Sarven incorporated Tarrytown Union Electric Light, Heat and Power Company in Greenburgh, NY.
