Description:
The movable jaw is held in position by intermeshing rack teeth that are disengaged by the movement of the side handle. The adjusting mechanism is enclosed in a case. An eccentric cam-wheel at the base of the casing shifts the bearing end of the racks sufficiently to take up lost motion.

This is the 3rd of 3 patents granted to Barlow on this date.
