Stan Schulz Hosking Wrench (Eng. Mech. & World of Science)
|
Description: |
The patent claims a principle of "plates" to adjust the size of a wrench jaw opening. The plates could pivot or slide from a recess in the wrench, with or without the use of a clamping screw to hold them in position. The patent received an extensive write-up in the May 24, 1872 "English Mechanic and World of Science." (pg 243 ff.)
Note: Early English patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of issue and the patent # (with "leading zeros" to make the number total nine digits). This patent is #2,182 of the year 1871. |
