GB-190226218 in ESPACENET
Description:
Self-adjusting wrench design which also was patented in the U.S. (pat. no. 741,841) and elsewhere (see Espacenet). A tension spring working in concert with a cam face on the main handle closes the jaws. The side links between the swinging handle and movable jaw open the jaws.

A known example with "D. R. PATENT" the only visible marking was found in Britain; a write-up in the April 15 1904 Zeitschrift für Werkzeugmaschinen und Werkzeuge names the manufacturer as Gesellschaft für Werkzeug-Industrie G.m.b.H. (Remscheid-Haddenbach, Germany), and notes German patent DE-149630.

Note: British patents (through 1915) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of registration and the patent #, with "leading zeros" interposed to make the number total nine digits. This patent is #26218 of the year 1902.
