Description:
Ratchet mechanism which allows the handle to drive auger, or gimlet, bits in a clockwise direction, only, while the handle is being pressed down. Pulling upward on the handle allows it to drive in a counter-clockwise direction, only, for withdrawal of the bits. See 1856 patent no. 15907 for a similar idea
