Description:
The fixed jaw is similar to previous patents such as no 2,299,454. The focus of the patent is the toggle "over center" connector at the base of the center link.

The patent number appears on a locking pliers shown on pg. 45 of Don Snyder's "MY SECOND THOUSAND WRENCHES" and marked LANE SURE GRIP CHICAGO PAT. 2496309. The lever and toggle connector also appear in a locking pliers marked SHUR GRIP CO. PAT. PEND. ROCKFORD, ILL. The end of the center link adjacent the adjusting screw in the SHUR GRIP matches the corresponding detail shown in pat. no. 2,496,308.

The specifications cite patent nos. 1,725,301, 2,280,005, 2,320,303, and 2,420,020 as references.
