Mueller Company History
Description:
A ratchet driver operates the drill; the entire device uses a chain vise type clamp to attach to a water main, and the drill operates inside a sealed chamber so the drilling operation can take place on a filled water or gas main. The device is an improvement on Mueller's July 23, 1872 patent (no. 129,853). The ratchet handles are often mistaken for ratchet wrenches when separated from the body of the device.

The Mueller company still operates in Decatur, Illinois.
