Vintage Machinery entry for Dole & Silver

Description:

The 21 January 1860 of Scientific American had this to say: "This is a very neat and simple tool. The end of the piece of wood on which a round tenon is to be cut is inserted into a hollow tube which has at its front end several radial rests and a radial cutter. The tool is revolved, and the stick being fed forward on the rests, has a perfectly round lesion formed on it by the cutter, this length of the tenon being gaged by means of an adjustable stop at the rear end of the tube."
