Description:
The focus of the patent is the lock release which is a hinged segment of the lever handle. The specifications claim this structure generates sufficient leverage to overcome the locking force of the "over center" link.

A 1954 METCOID (Metal Engineering Co.) ad for their LEVER JAW E-Z ACTION locking plier wrench shows this style of lock release, but cites patent no. 2,592,807.

One known example is marked "GREAT GRIP - EASY ACTION / PAT. NO. 2705899." The patent also was used for early 1950s CRAFTSMAN plier wrenches with "EASY OPEN" handles.

The specifications note patent nos. 2,443,153, 2,532,659, 2,543,922, 2,589,511, 2,590,750, 2,592,803, and 2,604,803 as references.
