Description:
The set screw adjusts the size range of the opening. The cams on the inner end of the handle provide the final gripping bite.

The comparable Canadian patent is no. CA-20,659 issued Nov. 29, 1884.

Contemporary advertising shows P. Lowentraut Mfg. of Newark, N.J. produced this as the "EUREKA" pipe tongs in four sizes.
