Description:
The wrench employs screw and wedge action to adjust the movable jaw. The adjusting nut has a single spiral groove that advances or reverses the bar containing the rack teeth. The back side of the bar is wedge shaped. By this construction, the teeth on the bar disengage from the teeth on the inner face of the movable jaw when the bar is fully retracted. This allows the jaw to be slid to the desired location. As the adjusting screw advances the rack bar, the teeth on that bar engage with the sliding jaw to tighten and hold the adjustment.
