A writeup on this patent in the August 1848 Journal of the Franklin Institute gave credit to "Mr. J. Peck, and Mr. L. Pardee, of New Haven". Pardee was perhaps Leonard Pardee, a joiner in New Haven at the time, who became a successful carriage maker. But other than this Journal of the Franklin Institute we could not find a connection between Mr. Peck and an L. Pardee. A. D. Jones' Gazetteer for Connecticut for 1857-8 lists Jeremiah Peck as a machinist in New Haven. There was a planing mill, L. Pardee & Co., in New Haven.
