Description:
A knob on the end of the handle turns an internal shaft with a cranked end and slide which disengages one or the other of the pawls. Mid-point of the rotation allows both pawls to engage, so the head would not ratchet. The head can be removed, and replaced with a drill holder. The advantage of having the reversing adjustment at the end of the handle is that the wrench can be used in tight or dangerous locations where traditional reversible ratchets are impractical.

Produced by the Lowell Wrench Company; the design was improved in 1903 (pat. no. 743,942) and continued production for several decades, with alterations and improvements as described in patent nos. 1,177,764 and 2,003,346.
