Description:
This hydrants replaces the then-usual conical valve with a sluice valve which allows better water flow. In addition, the passages through the hydrant were made much straighter than earlier hydrants, to further improve water flow.

The Union Hydraulic Works were established in 1837 by Richard Stileman.
