Description:
An interrupted screw with a thumb toggle is the adjusting device. It allows for quick adjustment. The thumb toggle portion is housed in a slot in the handle.

Corresponding Canadian patent no. CA-52,326 issued May 20, 1896 lists a different assignee. British patent GB-189608370 registered April 21, 1896 does not mention Davidson.

The only marking on known examples is "PAT FEB. 28-96". Pat. no. 513,308 is a precursor.
