Description:
The patent specification gives the inventor as "L. M. Newbury", but both the drawing and the 1866-07-21 issue of Scientific American give the name as "S. M. Newbury". The signature on the drawing could be read either way, which is probably how the discrepancy occurred.

This patent is of minor interest because the inventor also made sawmills and shingle mills.
