Description:
An unusual marking gage design from Stanley patent man Justus Traut.

It uses a sliding point referencing a fixed head, rather than the other way around. It is quite compact, and provides several very interesting features, like the ability to hold a pencil or marking point.

While this patent was assigned to the Stanley Rule & Level Company, there is no record of it ever being put into production.
