Description: |
Most of the patents prior to 1836 were lost in the Dec. 1836 fire. Only about 2,000 of the almost 10,000 documents were recovered. This is one of the recovered patents. This patent is in the database for reference only.
For an improvement in Chutes or Sluices in Dams, for the descent of arks, &c.; Amos Addis, Washington, Lycoming county, Pennsylvania, October 4.
"The claim made in the specification of this patent, is to every mode of extension of the chute into the pool of the dams; as all extensions above the breast of the dam is my improvement on the present chute, with the inclined plane at the bottom of the chute.
We are unable to understand the, so called, description of this improvement, and cannot, therefore attempt to epitomize it. This being the case, we dismiss it by giving the claim alone."
