Description:
Clamp used in the construction of rules. The clamp presses the metallic joints of rules tightly against the wooden portion so that when drilling the rivet or pin holes and inserting the pins which hold the rule together, the joint is correctly seated and firm. Apparently just for the two outer joints only.

Assumed to be used by Stephens & Co. in the manufacture of their rules.
