Description: |
| The adjusting screw is on a pivot, with a spring to hold it against the rack teeth in the movable jaw. In one version , the "outer" movable jaw slides, and a compression spring in the handle tends to force the jaw open. In another version, the "inner" movable jaw slides. In action, the adjusting screw would be swung away from the shank, opening the wrench. Then the adjustable jaw would be pushed against the nut or bolt-head, and the adjusting screw swung back into engagement with the rack teeth where it could be turned to accomplish fine adjustment.
Capewell's business eventually evolved into the Capewell Horseshoe Nail Company. |
