Description:
The force is transferred by a hollow shaft inside the handle, through a universal joint. The detachable sockets and rod handle store inside the hollow shaft. A spring ball retainer in the cap to hold the rod handle in position while in use received patent no. 1,457,570.

For more details and a photo of the wrench, see the DATAMP entry for pat no. 1,310,473.

The GUTHARD company developed an extensive socket wrench set and companion tools. Traditional square drive sockets could connect with the adapter shown in this patent drawing.
