Description:
Refinement of the design in 401,819 and GB-188907272 with a movable frame holding the adjusting ring, and overall structure allowing the jaw to align at right angles or in line with the handle.

Corresponding U.S. Patent 446,220 (granted Feb. 10, 1891) was used in conjunction with 401,819 to produce the LOWNES pipe wrench.

Note: Early British patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of registration and the patent # (with "leading zeros" interposed to make the number total nine digits). This patent is #2,421 of the year 1891.
