Description: |
In common with several other L.C. Mead plier wrench patents, this one has the adjustment in the connecting link. In this patent, the adjustment is a nut and threaded shank that rotate in a circular opening in the handle of the fixed jaw. The drawings, specifications and claims also set forth a lock release mechanism for a plier wrench of this type. The spring at the inner end of the release lever appears in one variant of the GRIPSO VISE PLIER -- see photo in relation to patent no. 2,514,130. Some GRIPSO boxes cite this patent and 2,543,922. A 1949 ad for the GRIPSO shows a version corresponding to patent no. 2,523,385.
The specifications cite patent nos. 561,274, 1,717,725, 2,388,580, 2,436,497, 2,463,721, 2,478,728, 2,481,435, and 2,489,895 as references.
