Description:
The rectangular shank of the outer movable jaw has ratchet teeth on both sides. The handle of the wrench holds a pair of gripping pawls, which are staggered.

The corresponding Canadian patent (no. CA-17,698) shows George G. Hadley and George P. Merrill as assignees.

Improved by Houlehan's Nov, 27, 1883 patent (no. 289,347). Known examples of the HOULEHAN wrench have this patent date, but resemble the later patent with the inner jaw adjustable.
