Description:
The movable jaw has a lever which when depressed releases the adjusting screw's engagement with the movable jaw, allowing for rapid adjustment without generating wear on the adjusting screw or corresponding threads in the movable jaw.

This patent is referenced in William A. Heath's Nov. 4, 1879 patent (no. 221,305).
