Description: |
This improvement on the 1918 Collison-Wright patent (no. 1,280,405) adds a second set of movable pivots in the handle linkage which result in a self-locking action even though the wrench retains the swinging end loop to keep the handle in the "closed" position. The final assembly of these tools took place in a remodeled chicken coop behind a village feed mill; the parts were produced by contract firms and the feed mill employees assembled the tools during "slack time" at the mill.
The patent cites U.S. patent nos. 1,280,405, 2,324,187, and 2,445,480 and German patents DE-354317 and DE-486072. |
