Description: |
British patent corresponding to U.S. patent 1,080,064 and German "Gebrauchsmuster" registration DG-508971.
Size adjustment accomplished by swinging sufficient "toggles" to fill the space between the nut / bolt head and a fixed jaw.
A 1923 ad and write-up for the HUF "Ready" SPANNER appears to correspond to this design. Sharples may have been an importer rather than manufacturer, as known HUF HUBER PATENT wrenches are stamped "Made in Germany". The German D.R.G.M. number was obtained from "Patentblatt." Wrenches of this type are "reputed" to have been used in German submarine service in WWI. |
