Stan Schulz The 75TH Anniversary of the Vise-Grip® Locking Pliers
|
Description: |
The "1st Model" was produced for a few years at DeWitt using forged pieces manufactured at Cicero, Illinois. It does not have the locking lever, which was added in 1924 with patent No. 1,489,458. The phrase "vise-gripping action" appears in the second paragraph of the specifications.
Some examples are stamped S.P.W. Co on one side - an apparent reference to a short-lived partnership between Petersen and Jules A. Sire, a local banker who appears as assignee of one-half interest of Petersen's April 8, 1924 patent no 1,489,458. |
