Description: |
Improvements to the nippers in patent nos. 64,664 and 209,677. The claims are details of the head, with the cutter jaws, spring to open the jaws, details of the interaction of the cutter jaws and lever handles, and the structure of the enclosure. Some of these details appear in Moses C. Johnson patent no. 232,975 (Oct. 5, 1880), which was ultimately judged invalid.
The last of a series of patents listed on the face of turn-of-the-century examples of HALL'S NIPPERS produced by the Utica Drop Forge & Tool Co., which took over the Utica, NY plant and production of Interchangeable Tool Co. after that firm experienced mortgage foreclosure in 1894 / 1895.
