Description: |
Ridgid jaw design parallel to the adjustable wrench concept patented in U.S. patent no. 446,324 and British patent no. GB-189102450. That idea was further refined in patent no. 515,070. The "notch" is also incorporated as an option in Carpenter's January 19, 1892 patent (no. 467,151). See also Canadian patent CA-38,340 granted Febr. 24, 1892.
The principle is gripping on flats adjacent to nut corners, so the corners are not rounded, and the wrench can be re-positioned without bodily removing the wrench. The Automatic Grip grip wrench was marketed in the early 20th Century. |
