Description:
The clamp binds an axle nut to the inner edge of a wheel hub. It consists of pairs of jaws connected by right- and left-hand threaded screws. The jaw pairs are mounted on a square shank.

Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" cites an 1894 Iron Age listing that shows the wrench produced by the Tenney Mfg. Co. of Pawtucket, RI.
