Claim:

In a gas or oil engine, the combination of two cylinders, into one of which a fuel charge is indrawn and compressed, and in the other of which an air charge is indrawn and compressed, of a passage between the two lined with fire - resisting material, with spaces through the refractory material for the pas- age of gases, or exchange of charges between the cylinders.
