| Description: | | Pawls embedded in the rim of a tool-holding disk engage teeth in the surrounding frame in the handle. The number of teeth is one less or one more than the number of pawls, so that only one pawl is fully engaged at any time. The teeth and pawls are shaped to minimize wear. Weston received five successive patents on March 3, 1868 -- this patent and nos. 75090, 75091, 75092, & 75093. | |
