Description: |
| The focus of this patent is the interposed spring which tends to close the movable jaws. The outside lever is to relax the spring tension when the self-closing feature is not desired.
The self-closing feature worked well until the spring failed. A few examples have survived the intervening decades. The shape and placement of the gear teeth were addressed in Larson's subsequent patent (no. 1,830,033).
Late production of the SPEEDNUT wrench was under auspices of the Chicago Mfg. & Distributing Co. (see Alloy-Artifacts).
