Description: |
This improvement to the Self-Adjusting Plier-Type Toggle Locking Wrench (pat. nos. RE26,280, 3,116,656 and 2,751,801) modifies the swinging handle to improve its lock-releasing function.
Produced as the LEVERWRENCH by Leverage Tools of Glenvil, Nebr. along with a line of self adjusting locking tools including welding clamps, "C" clamps, and a battery carrier. The STANLEY AUTO-GRIP PLIERS also used this patent.
In addition to the above noted patents, the patent cites patent nos. RE24,465, 2,576,286, 2,592,807, 2,838,973, 3,241,410, 3,252,360, 3,252,361, and 3,262,343 as references.
Leverage Tools and the related patents sold to STANLEY at ca. 1981, and further development of these self-adjusting locking plier wrenches was reflected in later STANLEY products, before realization that dirt and moisture would jam the self-adjusting sliding wedges and make this design unreliable in real-life working conditions. |
