Description: |
Combination pliers type tool with the handle ends forming a spring- and swinging bail-adjustable nut wrench. The toothed inner face of the bail engages notches in the outer curved face of the opposite handle to set the wrench adjustment. The tool includes wire cutter and ideally screwdriver features. The specifications mention the tool's use on automobiles. Although not noted in the patent, this is a modification of the "Combination Tool" for which Bangert received patent no. 1,458,511 on June 12, 1923.
The features and overall appearance match a tool marked "RENCHALL TRADEMARK - U.S. & FOREIGN PATENTS P." An early 1920's trade directory ad identifies the maker as Bangert Improved Tool Co. of Union Hill, NJ. |
