Description:
Chain wrench with provision for adjusting the grip of the chain, and which would grip a range of sizes. The handle has a cam end which rocks within a socket in the jaw section.

The specifications note a pending patent application filed Feb. 6, 1923, and call this design an improvement. The Cantilever Chain Wrench was advertised in oil and gas trade journals in the early and mid-1920s. Ad claims included ability to "reverse" direction of action without re-setting the wrench. Produced in sizes up to 12 inch capacity.

The initial application was filed Dec. 17, 1923, and was renewed July 6, 1927. This coincides with Heller Bros. Co. acquiring Cantilever Wrench.

Corresponding Canadian patent CA-254,158 was granted Sept. 29, 1925.

Carnelli had later chain wrench patents which have some resemblance to aspects of this design.
