Abstract:
This invention relates generally to multi-cylinder vertical compound steam engines using a "Woolf steam cycle", and it relates more particularly to steeple-compound, uniflow, poppet-valve, reversing stationary and marine steam engines, on which much higher steam temperatures can fee used with resulting lower steam consumption.
Claim:
In a multi-cylinder steam engine, in combination, a high pressure cylinder and a low pressure cylinder having admission and exhaust ports, valves for controlling the steam events in said cylinders, and an open auxiliary steam line between said high pressure cylinder and said low pressure cylinder. |
