In comparing this mechanism to those of patents 2,005,976 and 2,187,593, this one takes a similar approach to the latter patent in replacing wooden mechanisms with steel, although Keller's newer design makes more use of square-section steel tubing and the other new design uses rods. Judging by appearance, the design of patent 2,187,593 is less expensive to make whereas this patent's design is more rigid, and does not have the other patent's greater clearance under the narrow end of the table. |
