Description: |
Combination tool designed to work with the pedals that controlled operation of the Model T Ford planetary transmission. The tool would hold the pedals in place during maintenance of the transmission bands, and also serve as a lock to prevent operation of the transmission.
The FORD FIXER combination tool corresponding to this patent presents as a multi-size wrench, etc, and was brought to market while this patent was still "pending." In its function for transmission repair, it would be used together with a spring tool that received patent no. 1,522,475 and a band holding tool that received patent no. 1,605,870.
J. Arthur Thompson patented and marketed a variety of maintenance tools for Model T and early Model A Ford automobiles. His GLADACRES failed, including personal bankruptcy; the surviving tools are not self-explanatory. |
