Description:
"The improved construction of wrench or spanner consisting of two shanks carrying the jaws, one havinga mortice and the other a tenon throughout the whole or a portion of their length, so that they can be dovetailed together, a long slot in one shank and a short slot in the other shank, a screw rod inserted in the hole of one shank, a nut encircling such screw rod and situate in the slots of each shank, which nut when operated, moves the shanks lengthwise with each other, substantially as set forth."

Corresponding U.S. patent 838,414 was granted Dec. 11, 1906. Ron Geesin's entry for Hunton in THE ADJUSTABLE SPANNER shows an example, cites a catalog listing, and notes his later products.
